What artists do for a date

David took me on the coolest date ever. We had dinner at the Bombay House, (which David didn't like too much, but I thought it was great) and then we went to the Darkroom where he does a lot of his class assignments and made Cyanotypes. It was a lot of fun and we ended up with some really great images to add to our art library. Here's a video of one image being developed.

We finally found Lucy's bedding...

Carter's Tall Tales

Carter's Elephant Stitch Baby BeddingWe look for bedding at every store we're in that might have crib bedding and it is always Cheesy or princessed-out. We really just wanted the bedding that sold us on buying our crib so we searched and searched and finally found it! Now we just have to save up so we can buy it, but we'll probably wait until it gets closer. It is called Carter's Tall Tales bedding and our friend found these other two images of bedding we liked. Now we can't decide which bedding we like better. We like the green elephants the best I think, but is it girly enough for Lucy?? We don't want her to feel like she's in a little boys room :) Maybe we'll just stick to the giraffe's - tell us what you think! Green elephants, pink elephants or giraffes? Take that - Moby Wrap!!

A few months ago I was perusing the internet for baby wraps because I had heard that they were a great investment and I fell in love with the Moby Wrap. I told David that a Moby Wrap is the only thing I wanted for Christmas because they are seriously so cool! I also told my friend, Traci, about it and she said she had made one for her son out of fabric she bought at JoAnns. This was great news to me, since the Moby Wraps are $40 dollars and although I didn't mind buying one, I liked the idea of designing exactly what I wanted for $5 much better! We split the fabric and made these wraps and I LOVE how it turned out!!! Thanks Traci, you rock!! And Yes, that is a sack of potatoes that I put in the wrap to get a feel for what a baby will be like. David's idea, of course, but I hope Lucy won't weigh ten pounds. :)

The more we read about soothing babies in all our wonderful baby books, the more I feel like a wrap aligns with nurturing infants and there are SO many ways to tie the wrap for their different ages and preferred ways of being held. It's crazy how smart all those indigenous women are, they've got parenting down!

Tribute to lil' C

Corban is such a doll, so I had to post a few pics for you all to see. Corban is my older sister, Mel's son and he is about 18 months old. I stayed with Mel and Matt back in November and accidentally left my SD card in her computer. I got the card back and to my surprise I found a nice collection of photos Mel had taken. I won't post them all here to save her the embarrassment, but let's just say I had a good laugh. Here are a few pictures I found on there of little Corban, enjoy.

Bet you didn't know I married a rockstar!

Something that few of you may know is that David is actually the bassist in a band called Burn the Horizon. He played a show back in November at MUSE Music in Provo and I just haven't been very good at posting, so the next few will all be catch-ups. Sorry the sound is horrible on the video, my camera isn't great with video. He is such a hottie when he's playing music, I seriously felt like a groupie. Okay, maybe more like a mom taking pictures and videotaping, but I had to document it, right? David impresses me more and more everyday because he is genuinely good at everything. He tried wakeboarding with our family...he was a natural and has already passed me up, he tried surfing - also a natural, he's a stellar photographer, he knows how to fix cars, he's good at math, he aces all his classes without even studying, he swims for BYU - a D1 school, pretty much...David is the greatest guy I've ever met. How'd I get so lucky??

Guess who joined the NRA...

For the past year, I have really taken to the idea of getting a gun. Before you say anything, just listen to my reasoning:

1. Because other lunatics are allowed to carry guns, I feel the need to have to protect myself.
2. I don't want to kill anyone, I just want to immobilize them from hurting me or our family.
3. I would only have a gun if I practiced regularly and felt confident and controlled using it, that way it wouldn't be taken from me and used against me.
4. David said I'd have to take a gun safety course and possibly get our concealed weapons permits first.

So, over Christmas I convinced my dad to take me shooting and Coco, Sky and Amber were so excited about it that they came as well. It turned out to be a blast and where it may have been scary to hold at first, I think a gun might actually be a good thing. Thanks Dad!

A little teaching from Dad...
Me, Amby and Coco...such great times!
The 22 revolver handgun was SO LOUD that Amby had to plug my ears, thanks Amb! Hopefully Lucy didn't notice the racket :)

Portrait Update

My motivation is kicking into gear now as I am getting anxious to finish this painting so we can move everything out of the art room and start putting together our baby room! We finally have some furniture to put together and can't even take it out of the box until I finish this family portrait that I've been working on for Jon and Andrea, so I have now pushed up my deadline to be more in February and less in March. :) I think it's coming along okay so far, but there's still a LOT of work left to do on it...

Thank you thank you thank you!

David I have got to be the luckiest first time parents on the planet! We have been so blessed with all kinds of help for buying some of the new baby items we need and we are so grateful!!
Thank you Mom and Mark for this gorgeous crib! We LOVE it and can't wait to put it up! We somehow lucked out with a promotion at Baby's R Us and got the matching changing table absolutely FREE!! Thanks also for the Pack N Play for Christmas - it is so cute!! We are so grateful for all the fun things you've already bought for Lucy - thank you!

Thank you Carol and Ron for the Stroller and Car seat - sorry the pictures just don't do it justice for how cute it really is! We feel so fortunate and are so excited that Lucy will be riding in style. :) We can't thank you enough!

Aunt Michelle loves Lucy!!

Isn't this just the CUTEST dress!!! Michelle and Justin came over on Saturday because they found this little dress and matching pair of shoes and Old Navy and just couldn't wait to show us. It made our day, it was so thoughtful of them and is SO adorable!
We were so excited about it that we went shopping that night to pick out our first girl outfit since finding out we were having a girl. Buying girl clothes is going to be so much fun!! David thinks all the girl clothes just look like Valentines Day, so he's less enchanted with them, but he did agree on this little ditty below. We can't wait to go shopping again...

It's a Girl

Today we had our first ultrasound exam and saw our baby for the first time. For those of you who weren't aware, we are about 4 months pregnant. The baby is healthy and strong and growing. Little Lucy Noelle will be born around June 26th and we can't hardly wait. We are so excited that we are having a girl because Lucy Noelle was the only baby name that we both fell in love with. Boy names are so hard! Now we'll get to buy bows and cute outfits with hearts on them!
