BFA Final Show...Just Two Weeks!!
This is just to let everyone know about my final show at Coleman studios in two weeks. The opening is a week from friday on August 29 from 7-9 at Coleman Studios on University Ave. in Provo, UT and I promise you will love it if you go! I have posted a photo of just one of my paintings and of course it doesn't do the painting justice. You can find out more about it or see more of the paintings if you go to my art blog at brittanynoellescott.blogspot.com. I hope to see you all there!
Kirtland, Ohio
David and I decided to come home a couple of weeks early from Philly to get everything situated for my final show and to get jobs set up before they are all taken. On our drive back, we got to stop in Kirtland, Ohio and visit the historical sites. There is such a strong spirit there, I love the power I feel. It is almost as though you can feel Joseph's presence. Mel served her mission here, so we came to visit her when she was here and David and I didn't get the same VIP treatment, but it was still awesome! Some of these pictures I am posting for Mel...like the John Boynton home that she lived in. We took the whole tour and my favorite is always the Newell K. Whitney store with the school of the prophets inside. We also went to the johnson farm and saw the Kirtland Temple.
Silverman Workshop
Two weeks ago I got the incredible opportunity to attend Burt Silverman's summer workshop! I interned with him this summer in New York City and it changed my art dramatically. He helped me to see so much more and do so much better. He is a professional artist, arguably the top figure painter in the nation, and he taught me to draw and paint all week. We drew for three hours in the morning, and painted for three hours in the afternoon at his summer house in upstate new york. I included a drawing from the workshop that I did. It was extremely hard to be away from my love for five days but it was the opportunity of a lifetime!
My 23rd Birthday
I just had the best birthday imaginable! David took me to New York City and we did all the cool stuff that you don't usually get a chance to see. We walked around battery park down by the statue of liberty and the twin towers, we played frisbee in Central Park, we went to the Met museum, we walked along the Brooklyn Bridge, we saw the manhattan temple, we went shopping for purses in Chinatown, and to top it all off David had made reservations at the BEST mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at! It was so cute with tables outside and hanging lights. They made us fresh guacamole and everything. It was the best and I felt like a queen going to a resturaunt in the city (where he has never been) with reservations and everything. He chose mexican because he said he wanted to go somewhere that could remind me of Del Mar...isn't my husband the best!!
A Visit from my Family!
My mom, mark, amber, mandie and jordan all came out to visit in New York City and we had a blast! They came out for Nicole and Sky's second reception in upstate New York and stayed for a week so we got to spend a couple of days in the city. We took a carriage ride in central park, we went to the bathroom in the Plaza hotel (pretty woman and home alone), we went to the Met museum and the Museum of Natural History (night at the museum) and walked through central park. Oh and don't forget times square and seeing THE LION KING!!! It was incredible and it was so amazing! I loved the play! Everyone should see a play on broadway once in their lifetime.
Breaking Dawn
Yes, yes! The fourth book in the Twilight series came out on august 2nd and I had it read by August 5th. The four wives that were all hooked on the series with me, met me by the pool the day we got the book and we read and read and read for four or so hours out by the pool...a typical day in the life of a wife of a salesman. We seriously were all reading and this was a regular Saturday for us!
We also went to D.C.
I was so excited to get to see Marci who is now living in D.C. and teaching biology. We saw the Washington Monument, the veterans Memorial, the WWII Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Capital Building, the National Archives and the White House! We actually got to see President Bush's personal Air Force One helicopter fly over our heads right in front of the white house and pick up the President!!! I asked the security guard if that was the president and in a serious voice he said, "Ma'am, the President's the ONLY person allowed to land there." It was awesome! There were three helicopters that all flew in and it was totally like the Italian Job!
Alyssa's Visit!
Okay, so I know I am WAY behind on adding recent updates to my blog, but now is better than never, right? Well way back when...umm in july right after Nicole's wedding...my best friend from high school came to visit me in Philly! We had a blast going to NYC, Washington D.C., Longwood Gardens and hanging out by the pool. Here are a few pictures from our New York Trip. We went to the Met Museum, to the Serendipity Restaurant for ice cream, to Rockefeller center and much more. It was also my first time driving in the city! Fun and crazy!

Skate or Die
The drive home has been long. We drove from Monday morning until Tuesday night non stop, except to eat, gas up and visit Kirtland, OH. It was 1500 miles of driving happiness. I got a ticket in Sandusky OH and Brit got pulled over in Iowa because our registration tags weren't current. Wednesday we took some time in Denver to relax and unwind. I went to the skate park with my nephews Boone and Indy and took a bunch of pictures of them. I even tried skating myself.
