Happy Halloween!

I never thought carving pumpkins could be so fun! David set up the camera and we had some fun outside with taking spooky pictures. David says this year we'll be ghosts for halloween, so we were just practicing our costumes!

Vote YES on Prop 8 California!

If Prop 8 doesn't pass, California will be the first in the domino effect of our nation redefining the traditional view of marriage. God has created one way for two people to create a family and that is ONLY through a man and a wife, and might I add married. We have pushed the lines in so many directions and redefining the Lord's law on marriage will destroy society and many other institutions as we now know them. Adoption agencies refusing to adopt to gay and lesbian couples will be forced to close, colleges refusing to provide housing for same sex couples will be sued, religious leaders refusing to preform marriages for same gender couples will have their legal license revoked and be sued, and our children will be forced to learn values we don't agree with in their early years in school. We have already seen a doctor in Massachusetts who refused to artificially inseminate a lesbian couple because it was against his beliefs be sued and even lose his license to practice medicine even though he referred the couple to another doctor.

This is huge and we will ALL regret not standing up and fighting for what we believe if we stand by and watch it not pass. Vote YES on Prop 8 and tell all your California friends to do the same. Register by October 20!! We can still be tolerant of other people's beliefs and they will still have the same civil rights, but we don't have to allow our own to be under attack.

Opening Night...love of color and point of view!

Our show opening was a great success last friday and we'd like to thank all of our wonderful friends and family who made it out to support us. It really means a lot to have so much support with something so important to us. I got one final critique from a teacher, Robert Marshall, and by the end of the night my feet were tired of the heels! Thanks to coco and sky for being on camera duty for the night, great job! We thought it might be nice to post some pictures from the opening for those of you who couldn't make it. We hope you enjoy!

BFA Final Show...Just Two Weeks!!

This is just to let everyone know about my final show at Coleman studios in two weeks. The opening is a week from friday on August 29 from 7-9 at Coleman Studios on University Ave. in Provo, UT and I promise you will love it if you go! I have posted a photo of just one of my paintings and of course it doesn't do the painting justice. You can find out more about it or see more of the paintings if you go to my art blog at brittanynoellescott.blogspot.com. I hope to see you all there!

Kirtland, Ohio

David and I decided to come home a couple of weeks early from Philly to get everything situated for my final show and to get jobs set up before they are all taken. On our drive back, we got to stop in Kirtland, Ohio and visit the historical sites. There is such a strong spirit there, I love the power I feel. It is almost as though you can feel Joseph's presence. Mel served her mission here, so we came to visit her when she was here and David and I didn't get the same VIP treatment, but it was still awesome! Some of these pictures I am posting for Mel...like the John Boynton home that she lived in. We took the whole tour and my favorite is always the Newell K. Whitney store with the school of the prophets inside. We also went to the johnson farm and saw the Kirtland Temple.

Silverman Workshop

Two weeks ago I got the incredible opportunity to attend Burt Silverman's summer workshop! I interned with him this summer in New York City and it changed my art dramatically. He helped me to see so much more and do so much better. He is a professional artist, arguably the top figure painter in the nation, and he taught me to draw and paint all week. We drew for three hours in the morning, and painted for three hours in the afternoon at his summer house in upstate new york. I included a drawing from the workshop that I did. It was extremely hard to be away from my love for five days but it was the opportunity of a lifetime!

My 23rd Birthday

I just had the best birthday imaginable! David took me to New York City and we did all the cool stuff that you don't usually get a chance to see. We walked around battery park down by the statue of liberty and the twin towers, we played frisbee in Central Park, we went to the Met museum, we walked along the Brooklyn Bridge, we saw the manhattan temple, we went shopping for purses in Chinatown, and to top it all off David had made reservations at the BEST mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at! It was so cute with tables outside and hanging lights. They made us fresh guacamole and everything. It was the best and I felt like a queen going to a resturaunt in the city (where he has never been) with reservations and everything. He chose mexican because he said he wanted to go somewhere that could remind me of Del Mar...isn't my husband the best!!
